Title: All Imperfect Things (1/1)
Author: [Bad username or unknown identity: ]
Fandom: RPF (AU)
Pairings/Characters:
Length: ~840 words
Rating: Adult
Summary: BIS Agent Jason Isaacs hates people who think they're above the law.
Disclaimer: Not RL; didn't happen. If you think this has anything to do with the real actors involved, then you really need to put down the crack pipe. Seriously.
Warnings: References to child sexual abuse and suicide.
Notes: This piece can be read as a prologue to my as-yet-untitled Jason/Viggo/Ben/Rob Keptverse series. It was prompted by 's A Kept Boy Outake #1: Cruise. I really want someone to bring her Lord Cruise down, and as I was thinking about it, the Jason who's been kicking around in my head made his opinion known...somewhat vehemently.
For the purposes of this snippet, you need to know that Jason's a senior agent with the Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security. As developed by
devilc , BIS is effectively Commerce's secret police. Jason's a bit unusual for Commerce, because while he supports the slave labor system, he also believes that in order for the system to function as intended, the law must be upheld for slaves and citizens alike. He has no patience for the nouveaux riches who believe the law doesn't apply to them.
Jason has two slaves: Ben Barnes, his body-slave (who is not at all the Ben Barnes in
angiepen 's "A Lost Boy" series), and Rob Pattinson, his cook/housekeeper.
The title is a track from Michael Nyman's soundtrack for The Piano.
It was wasteful, and Jason abhorred waste.

Date: 2009-01-04 01:31 am (UTC)how does Jason choose which broken toy he's going to "rescue"?
Jason was involved in busting Rob's former master, a drug dealer, and Ben's last master, who was running a club with illegally acquired slaves. Rob was actually in bad enough shape that he was probably going to be euthanized, but Jason was able to get through by convincing Rob that he wasn't going to be used for sex. Ben had gotten a reputation as bad luck, and Commerce wasn't sure how much they'd get for him, so they were willing to sell him to Jason to get him off their hands.
It's not altruism on Jason's part, either--or at least, that's what he tells himself. By purchasing damaged slaves he gets boys that he ordinarily couldn't afford on his salary. He also gets boys who are intensely loyal to him, which fits in nicely with his master plan.
Obviously, both boys are still afraid of him as their master, even if they're relaxed into their roles.
Ben isn't afraid of Jason, mostly, although he does worry that he's not meeting Jason's expectations. (For Ben, think of Jensen, only Cruise got him later and he didn't take to the training as well, plus Tom and Nicole fought over him during the divorce, and then after getting him, Nicole declared she was bored with him and sold him.)
Rob isn't afraid of Jason normally--he's afraid of angry masters in general. His previous master was very abusive, and even though Jason's been very gentle with him, displays of anger make Rob nervous.
How do they see him -- as master? Or as Commerce agent?
As their savior, mostly. Both of them are devoted to him to a degree that's a little creepy at times. They know why he bought them, and they know he's not a nice guy, but he's also pretty good to them, and most of all, he's fair, and makes his expectations clear.
