There is a Christian antislavery organization that was a focus of controversy a few years ago. Their approach is to simply buy slaves and free them one at a time, because they regard that as the fastest way to help individuals. Other antislavery activists were appalled that they were giving money to pirates and slaveowners, and afraid their work might make the business of slavery more profitable in the short term. The bit that stuck in my head was "To Free The Captives," but I don't know if that's the name of the group or a motto. It's not terribly distinctive, as so many religious people refer to the same verse when they're opposing slavery. (And I don't know how to limit a search to stuff written about the last 10 years.)
